Beyond the Runway Preview

Get ready to vogue! Beyond the Runway presents a blast from the past runway show.

Vogue! Vogue! Vogue! Columbus State University’s own Beyond the Runway organization and Nu Delta will be hosting their bi-annual runway fashion show on April 5. The doors will open at 7:11 p.m., and the show will start promptly at 7:30 p.m. To attend, a student can pay $3 at the door with his or her student ID or $8 for a ticket bundle that grants access to both the runway show and Nu Delta’s party, which will happen on the following day. Non-students can pay $5 to attend.

This semester’s theme will be “Throw BaQ Thursday.” Attendees can expect a diverse display of models, clothing, and music through the decades from the 70s to 2000. For each decade, there will be three groups of ten-to-twelve models on a traditional T-style runway. There will be an optional walk-on competition available for the audience to participate in. It is recommended that participants dress in their best runway clothes or clothes pertaining to specific decades. Otherwise, semi-formal dress is requested. The most important things to bring are your moves! Clothing vendors DTLR, Culture, and The Mind Clothing will be in attendance, as well.

Beyond the Runway began in 2011 with a mission to promote diversity across all backgrounds whether that be in their models or the audiences coming to see their shows. They want to reach many people to spread their messages of body positivity and a positive mindset about diversity. They host shows every semester. Past themes have been “Operation Rebirth,” “CirQues,” “Straight Outta Oz,” and “Exhibit A.” For more information about Beyond the Runway, people can follow their instagram page at https://www.instagram.com/beyond_the_runway/.

When people come to see this semester’s show, BTR hopes onlookers will get a blast of nostalgia seeing everyone’s favorite decades brought to light once again. Come out and walk the runway!
