SGA Spreads Good Vibes

Student Government Association and RSOs make banners for students who cannot go home for the holidays

Many international students at Columbus State will not be returning to their homes for the holidays, and Wednesday, during event called “Home Away From Home,” the Student Government Association let those students know they have a second home at Columbus State University.

Registered Student Organizations were asked by SGA to make creative banners that express gratitude for the international students and show general appreciation as well as holiday spirit. Several organizations including the Student Nurses Association, the NAACP, Collegiate Women, and a few others made banners for the event.

“We want to show the students who can’t go home that the student body cares,” said Logan Ragan, SGA President. “It’s an opportunity to express some good will during the holiday season.” SGA’s Vice-President of Finance Jabin Stepp was also at the event, and added that “building stronger relations” was a component of the function.

SGA has not yet chosen a place to hang the banners, but mentioned that the location will be a place where they can be “truly appreciated.”
