Student Organization Campus Nerds Announce Promotions, Events

CSU student organization, Campus Nerds, discuss elections, events, and membership

The Campus Nerds, one of the largest student organizations at Columbus State University, held a general meeting on Thursday, Sept. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the CCT Auditorium. Present were president Victoria Mulneix, advisor Neal Tirado, and 15 other members.

Mulneix announced Sam Marks as the new Operations Manager and announced that elections for all positions would be held in late October. In other news, Anime Night will be held Sept. 12 at 7:30 in Davidson 254, and Game Night, which will feature two tournaments (TBD) will be held on Friday, Sept. 15 beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Davidson Lounge.

This year’s Haunted House theme will be “hospital escape” and participants are needed. The last interest meeting will be held on Sept. 14 in Davidson 256 at 6:00 p.m.

Other activities being planned are Dungeons & Dragons Night, B-rated movie Night, RAINN Day, and Project Bookbag. Members were asked to bring donations of school supplies.

Mulneix also announced membership dues at $20 for the year, or $15 for the semester. Dues are optional. You don’t have to pay dues to be a member, however, special perks will be given to members who have paid dues, according to Mulneix.

After the floor was opened for general questions, one member asked why NerdaCON canceled. NerdaCON, considered to have been a big success last year after its move from CSU to the Columbus Trade Center, is usually held every November. “The timing just isn’t right,” said Tirado.
